Annual Sponsored Charity Walk Organised by Rotary Club of Camberley and Camberley News and Mail 30th September 2007 |
Raise awareness and money for your charity this September with friends and family by taking part in the Annual Sponsored charity walk. You can choose which charity you would like to raise money for, and of the money you have raised, a whopping 75% can be sent on to your charity. The remaining 25% will be donated to charities chosen by Camberley and whether you would like to walk alone or in a group is again up to you. |
The Annual Sponsored Charity Walk follows a pleasant circular six mile country route commencing and finishing at Basingstoke Canal Centre, Mychett. A shorter three mile family route is available in the adjacent Frimley Lodge Park. Both walks start at 10.15 am. |
| Check points throughout the route will be manned by members of the Rotary Club. Each check point will have a supply of free liquid refreshment for walkers and will keep in touch with the walk control at the Basingstoke Canal Centre by mobile phone. First aiders will also be on hand throughout the day |
The walk has been on-going for several years now, and thousands of pounds have been raised by local people taking part in the glorious walk. |
Let your charity be seen! |
You can also help to raise awareness of your charity by letting us know who you will be walking for. Almost all charities are keen to raise awareness of their projects, and let people know why they may need more money, volunteers or even second hand donations. Why not contact the marketing team here at the Camberley News and Mail with details of who you h0ave chosen to walk for, and we will ensure that a web link is put up on this page so that more people can find out about the charity. Who knows – some people may decide to take part for your charity! |
Camberley News and Mail are also keen to let our readers know which charities will benefit from the Annual sponsored Charity Walk, so when you get in touch, please do leave a contact name and number, and one of our reporters may be in touch with you soon. |
How can I take part? |
Taking part in the walk couldn’t be easier! You simply need to provide an entry token that will be printed in your local Camberley News and Camberley Mail or Aldershot News and Aldershot mail over the next few weeks. And if you don’t have a token, don’t worry, papers will be available on the day with tokens, to purchase for 37p. |
Sponsorship forms are available to download from this page (see the links below) along with directions to the start, and a map of the route |
If you would like a sponsorship form to be sent out to you, simply cut out a coupon from any edition of the Aldershot News or Aldershot Mail (including the Camberley News and Mail) and send it into the marketing team, who will gladly send you out a pack. Tokens will be printed in paper each week from w/c August 20 2007 to w/c 24 September 2007. Your token will be sent back to you for entry into the walk on the day. |
Now you are ready, you can start collecting sponsors, simply turn up on the day… and walk! |
You are welcome to walk the route at any pace, with friends, family and of course bring your family dog. Picnic parties are also invited to come along and make a day of the walk too. |
What do I do with my sponsorship money after the walk? |
You will have a remittance slip sent to you with your pack from which you outline how much money is being handed to the Rotary club of Camberley (25%) and send this to the rotary club via post, or you can hand it in on the day in cash. Please do not send any cash via post. We will have plenty of these forms available on the day of the walk too. |
